Accepting these terms
These terms apply when you use this website or hire Fort Dodge Concrete, a concrete contractor in Fort Dodge, IA, for work at your property. By using the site, asking for an estimate or booking a job, you agree to them.
If a signed estimate or contract for your job says something different from this page, the signed document controls for that job. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the site or book work with us.
What we do
We build and repair concrete for homes and businesses in Fort Dodge, Webster City and the cities around them. That includes driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, slabs, footings, foundations, retaining walls, decorative and stamped concrete, and concrete cutting. You can read about each service from the home page, and more about our crew on the About page.
The descriptions on this site are general. The work we do at your property is the work written on your estimate or contract, and nothing beyond it unless we both agree to a change.
Estimates and pricing
We give free estimates on site with no obligation, because we need to see the ground, the drainage and the access before we can price a job fairly. An estimate is our price for the work it describes, based on what we can see that day.
Some things only show up once the old concrete is out or the digging starts, such as soft or wet subgrade, which is the soil the slab sits on, buried debris or roots. If we find something like that, we stop, show you, and explain what it changes before doing extra work. Any change in scope or price is agreed with you first, in writing or by text or email.
Prices on an estimate hold for the period written on it. After that, material and fuel costs can change, so we may need to update the price before scheduling.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We schedule pours around the weather, because rain, freezing temperatures and hard midday heat all weaken fresh concrete. If the forecast turns, we'll move your date and tell you as early as we can, and that isn't a cancellation by either side.
Before we start, you agree to give us reasonable access to the work area, to tell us about anything buried that we wouldn't know about, such as sprinkler lines, septic parts or private electric runs, and to keep vehicles, pets and people off the area while it's being formed and poured.
If you need to cancel or move your date, please call us as soon as you can. If we've already ordered concrete, bought special materials or done prep work, you'll pay for those costs, and anything else on cancellation follows your estimate or contract.
Payment
Payment follows the schedule written on your estimate or contract, including any deposit and when the balance is due. We'll tell you up front which payment methods we accept.
If a balance goes unpaid past its due date, we may charge late fees as allowed under Iowa law and stated in your contract, and we may use the lien rights Iowa gives contractors for unpaid work on a property.
What we can and can't promise about concrete
We build every job to do its work for a long time, and we stand behind our workmanship as written on your contract. Concrete does shrink and move as it cures and as the ground freezes and thaws, so fine hairline cracks are normal and aren't a defect. That's why we cut control joints, which are grooves that give the slab a chosen place to crack.
Color, texture and finish can vary from a sample or photo, because concrete is a natural material and every pour sets a little differently. That's especially true of stamped and colored work.
We don't cover damage from things outside our work, including heavy loads the slab wasn't built for, deicing salt in the first winter, poor drainage from gutters or grading we didn't build, tree roots, settling of soil we didn't prepare, or use of the slab before it has finished curing, which is the wait while the concrete gains strength. Apart from what your contract states, we make no other warranties, written or implied, to the extent Iowa law allows.
Limits on our liability
Fort Dodge Concrete is licensed and insured. Our responsibility for any job is limited to repairing or redoing the faulty work, or refunding what you paid for that part of the work, as we decide is fair.
We aren't responsible for indirect losses, such as lost use of a driveway, lost income or costs from delays we didn't cause, to the extent Iowa law allows. Nothing here limits any right that Iowa law says can't be limited.
Using this website
The information on this site is general and is meant to help you understand concrete work. It isn't engineering advice for your property and doesn't replace an estimate.
We try to keep the site accurate and up to date, but we don't promise it's free of errors. The text, photos and design belong to Fort Dodge Concrete, and you may not copy them for business use without our permission.
Disputes and governing law
If something about your job isn't right, call us first, because most problems get fixed fastest when we come out and look at them together. If we can't settle it that way, we both agree to try mediation before going to court.
These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa. Any court case will be brought in the courts of Webster County, Iowa, unless the law requires otherwise.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this page is the one that applies. Changes don't affect a job already under a signed estimate or contract unless we both agree in writing.
Questions about these terms
If you have a question about these terms or your job, call us at (515) 417-2702 or send us a message through our Contact page. Expect a reply within 1 business day.
